Carbon laser peel review: The perfect fix for a weekend

When most people hear ‘peel’ when referring to a facial, they envision a bright red face and days of peeling skin. Also known as the Hollywood peel, the carbon laser peel facial leaves you with nothing of the sort.

What does a carbon laser facial do?

It can exfoliate the skin four times deeper than a peel, but it is completely non-invasive – no pain and no recovery time.

Promising “collagen remodelling”, it is known to help to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine line, scars and pigmentation. In general, it is great for anti-ageing, pigmentation, redness, rosacea, acne, dehydrated and dull skin. It is also particularly beneficial for people with oily skin, blackheads, and enlarged pores because it blasts these issues out of the skin.

The laser energy works in two ways: first, it gently targets the melanin (pigmentation) in the cells breaking it up for your body’s natural removal processes. Then it heats deep in the dermis causing the skin to contract and stimulate collagen.

What does a carbon laser facial do?

Carbon laser facial treatment

A layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, where it penetrates deep into the pores. Laser light is highly attracted to the carbon particles. When the laser is passed over the area, it destroys the carbon, taking dead skin cells, contaminants and oil with it.

It zaps a little loudly as it passes across your face, but you feel nothing more than a tingle or a little pinch. This is a two-part process and for the second, a hoover is placed near you to suck up the carbon particles and dead skin, thankfully your eyes are covered to protect from the laser so you can’t see this skin leaving your face.

It cleanses, exfoliates and rejuvenates by taking away any dirt and dead skin. The carbon peels also target the deep layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production, which in turn produces firmer, plumper skin, reduces fine lines and wrinkles and leaves skin feeling tighter and glowing.

Are carbon lasers effective?

The effects are instant but, of course, short-lived. It is no wonder cure – as with any facial treatment, the more you have the more benefits you will see.

I left with miraculously clear skin – my blackheads had pretty much vanished – and my face was definitely tighter and definitely glowing.

It was the perfect fix for the weekend, or for a special event. Along with dirt removal and rejuvenation, it targets bacteria and the like that causes acne so I am sure that had my skin been more troublesome the results would have been quite spectacular.

How many treatments do you need?

If you have a particular skin concern, such as acne or pigmentation, then this will be advised in a case by case basis with the clinician. If you’re looking for an overall boost to your skin’s condition, then it is an ideal beauty treatment to have before a special event.

Carbon laser peel aftercare advice

It isn’t an intense treatment at all. There is no downtime, you could put makeup on and go straight out if you wanted. The only recommendation is to where sunscreen with SPF30 (at least).

Great article! I wasn’t sure about Carbon Laser treatment at first, especially because of the mixed reviews in Australia. However, I found a great clinic and it was the best decision I could’ve made.
