1. Visit the childhood home of The Beatles
If you love The Beatles, you’ll love a trip to their hometown of Liverpool. You can discover everything there is to know about their musical career by visiting The Beatles Story. You can also visit the childhood homes of both Paul McCartney and John Lennon, both of which are now National Trust managed.
Even if you’re not a Beatles fan, you’ll still find a lot to love about this vibrant city. The Royal Albert Dock, Liverpool Cathedral and Cavern Club are just some of the great attractions available.
2. Take in the sights of Portsmouth
Portsmouth also has a lot to offer tourists, despite it largely being known as a ferry port. You can climb up the Spinnaker Tower, visit the HMS Victory, and take a look around the Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum.
It’s one of the most historic places in Britain you can visit, providing plenty of entertainment for the young and old. It’s also really easy to get here too, with many train stations offering easy access to the city. For example, you could take a train from Brighton to Portsmouth at an affordable cost.

3. Enjoy a dip in Roman Baths
Another historic place you’ll want to consider for your staycation is Bath. Here, you’ll be able to take a dip in beautiful Roman baths.
Situated right in the centre of the city, the original Roman baths still feature natural flowing heated water. However, nobody really takes a dip in these anymore. So, you’ll want to head to the Thermae Bath Spa to experience the warm waters.
As well as the Roman Baths, the city has a great selection of independent boutiques and it was once home to the legendary Jane Austin.
These are just a few great staycation ideas you can take advantage of in the UK. No matter how far you want to travel, you’ll find a staycation idea to suit you. Even just a couple of days away can do wonders to lift the mood and recharge your batteries.
