How to keep your hair healthy throughout winter

In the winter hair needs caring for too. Dryness of the cold season, which comes from both cold air and central heating, is damaging not only to your skin but health in general. As well as changing your skincare routine for winter, you need to review your entire lifestyle and diet to strengthen your immune system and make sure you can go through autumn and winter without getting sick.

The basics of your haircare routine can remain the same during the cold months. This means that you don’t have to change the frequency of washing your hair or using masks. It’s the content that matters more during this time — simply put, you’ll need to switch to ‘heavier’ formulas that offer more nutrition and hydration. Much as you go from iced tea to hot cocoa, you will need to find ways to warm up and feed your hair with some autumn and winter hair products.

The effects you should be looking for are deep moisturising and nourishing. Products for everyday use wouldn’t be a good choice because they are too light. Why you need to wear a hat

If you’re worried about hat hair, the lack of volume will be the last of your troubles if your barnet gets damaged by the elements, which they will do if you go outside without covering your head — especially in rain and snow. You can wear a hood, but why not take the chance to rock a stylish headpiece?

Choose natural materials or soft synthetic fabrics. Also, remember that rubbing cloth on your hair is sure to result in a static charge so you may want to use anti-static sprays to reduce any possible damage (although if your hair is well moisturized it shouldn’t be too bad).

How to stop itchy scalp

Your scalp can dry out as well during the cold months. This often results in irritation, itching, and scaling that makes you look like you have dandruff.

To avoid this, you’ll need to provide your scalp with extra-special treatment during this season. You can prevent an itchy scalp by treating it weekly with coconut oil. Gently rub it into the scalp and leave for 20 minutes before washing off or leave overnight. If this treatment is too “heavy” for you, use Aloe Vera gel-based products to soothe and moisturize the scalp. If you make your own, remember to dilute the gel you get from the plant.

Your hair will have to endure a lot of stress during the cold season, even if there isn’t too much sunlight to burn it as it does in the summer. Therefore, you should focus on preventing the damage. Change your haircare routine as early as possible to make sure your locks remain strong and shiny no matter the weather.
