How to shop at TK Maxx to find the best gems [ad]

In June this year the TK Maxx Oxford Street opened, and it is the company’s biggest store yet. When I read about this back in May I didn’t expect it to be somewhere I would visit, as this sounded a little overwhelming. I was wrong.

As it turns out, the Oxford Street shop is much easier to navigate than I had expected and didn’t lead to the overwhelming shopping experience I had anticipated – I am now a converted customer. *

TK Maxx stocks brand name and designer products at discount prices (up to 60 per cent off). New stock comes in every day, but with an ever-changing selection items can easily be missed.

The reason I was initially wary is that I’m not a particularly patient person, so I find shopping through varied items — like you do in vintage shops — very hard work. However, TX Maxx Oxford Street is split across several floors, so the layout is easier to digest and sort through.

For those new to the TK Maxx experience, don’t throw yourself in at the deep end. Start with shoes, bags and homeware. The bag and shoe collection are the perfect places to discover a hidden treasure while homeware, a large and spacious section, has a huge variety and amazing brands for incredible prices. All of these items are all displayed in a way that requires no rummaging (shoes are organised by size), so you can simply stroll through the shop until something catches your eye.

Homeware is my favourite section in TK Maxx and has been a place I’ve bagged some amazing Christmas presents, including a suave knife collection which would usually be very expensive to buy. If you want to invest in some wall art, check out this blog post I wrote.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you are shopping for something in particular but can’t seem to find it anywhere, you will probably find it in TK Maxx. I recently went on a hunt for a 2019/2020 diary to take to my first day at a new job and I went into every high street shop I thought would have it and nobody did. I was just about to give up when it occurred to me to try TK Maxx and guess what? Not only did I find one, but it was half the price I had been expecting to pay.

*I was invited to a guided tour of the shop and given a gift card.
